Evaluation Mechanism: The 3 C’s

Comprehension

Comprehension

Comprehension

Ask open-ended questions:   Do they understand the core idea?

  1. What does your inner light mean to you?
  2. How did it feel to help someone this week?

Connection

Comprehension

Comprehension

Look for personal examples:    Can they relate the concept to their own life?

  1. Today I helped my friend tie their shoe.
  2. When I was sad, I remembered my peace rock.

Consistency

Consistency

Have they practiced it in small ways during the week?

  1. Track through reflection, art, stories, or sharing circles.

Tools for Evaluation & Progress

Heart Journal

Teacher’s Observational Notes

"Light Check-In" Circles

Each child keeps a weekly journal (drawings, words, or symbols) reflecting their experience. This becomes their personal progress record.

"Light Check-In" Circles

"Light Check-In" Circles

At the end of the week, have a gentle circle where kids share:

  1.  One thing they learned
  2. One moment they practiced the lesson
  3. One word that describes how they felt

Heart Badge

Teacher’s Observational Notes

Teacher’s Observational Notes

Each time they complete a lesson, they receive a symbolic “badge” (sticker, bead, patch) representing the theme (e.g., a star for inner light, a hand for kindness). It’s not a reward—it's a symbol of their journey.

Use a simple rubric with notes on each child’s engagement, expression, and understanding. Keep it reflective rather than rigid.

Graduation

Next Level Progress

A child is ready to progress when:

  1. They’ve demonstrated basic understanding through conversation or creative expression.
  2. They’ve practiced the concept meaningfully at least once.
  3. They can express (verbally or nonverbally) how it made them feel.

Celebration

We celebrate progress with a short “Rite of Passage” moment, like lighting a candle, offering a group affirmation, or giving a symbolic item (e.g., a feather for wisdom, a shell for peace).
